IS 'PLANET X 2.0' LURKING BEYOND PLUTO'S ORBIT?



Before the doomsayers hijacked "Planet X" and used it as a phantom (a.k.a. "Nibiru") to scare people into believing the 2012 doomsday hype, the hunt for Planet X was an exciting astronomical quest to find a hypothetical world in the outermost reaches of the solar system in the early 20th century.

Although dwarf planet Pluto was discovered during the search for Planet X in 1930, apparently ending the quest, there is enduring evidence for the existence of a substantial planet gravitationally shaping the population of minor bodies in the Kuiper belt and beyond. The only problem is, we can't see it.

ANALYSIS: Does a Massive Planet Lurk in the Outer Solar System?

Earlier this month, at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Timberline Lodge, Ore., Rodney Gomes, an astronomer from the National Observatory of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, announced the results of his simulation of a region beyond Pluto known as the "scattered disk," suggesting the presence of an as yet to be discovered massive world.

The scattered disk is a sparsely populated region that overlaps with the Kuiper belt at around 30 AU (Neptune's orbit), and some scattered disk objects (or SDOs) have extreme orbits that extend to 100 AU.

One such small world is Sedna, a dwarf planet with a highly elongated orbit. "Sedna's orbit is truly peculiar," said Caltech planetary scientist Mike Brown, who led the team that discovered Sedna in 2003.

These extreme orbits, argues Gomes, could be due to the presence of an unknown massive planet. By his reckoning, a planet four times the size of Earth may be out there beyond the orbit of Pluto. In his simulation, he placed the gravitational field of a large planet and watched the effect it had on the SDO's orbits.

"Rodney Gomes is actively seeking further evidence, and I await his findings with interest!" Douglas Hamilton, an astronomer at the University of Maryland, told Life's Little Mysteries. "He has taken on a difficult task, but is taking the right approach. It is definitely a high-risk, high-reward, situation -- a discovery of a new planet would be spectacular!"

ANALYSIS: No 'Nemesis' Boosting Comet Impacts

Although the presence of a massive planet may explain the extreme orbits, there is little else that suggests Planet X 2.0 really is out there. But the method of seeking out other worlds while looking for their gravitational influence on the orbits of other celestial bodies has been done before, with historic success.

In 1781, British astronomer Sir William Herschel noticed a perturbation in Uranus' orbit. By 1821, French astronomer Alexis Bouvard surmised that Uranus was being slightly "tugged" by the gravity of another, as yet to be discovered, massive planet in the outer solar system. In the 1840s, English and French astronomers John Couch Adams and Urbain Le Verrier independently went on to calculate where this mystery planet should be in the night sky by purely measuring these little deviations in Uranus' path.

Fifty-five years after Herschel noticed Uranus' perturbations, the distant planet was officially discovered by German astronomer Johann Galle in the location predicted by Couch Adams and Le Verrier. It was named Neptune.

Following the discovery of Neptune through studying perturbations in the orbit of Uranus, astronomers in the late 19th century still believed there must be another massive planet in the outer solar system causing additional perturbations to Uranus. By 1906, Percival Lowell -- founder of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz. -- was inspired by these hints of another world and started a search for what he dubbed "Planet X."

It wasn't until 1930 that Clyde Tombaugh, an astronomer at Lowell Observatory, discovered Pluto. At the time, it was thought the search for Planet X had come to an end, but after follow-up observations in the decades after Pluto's discovery, the tiny world was found to have a minuscule gravitational field -- it wasn't the "Planet X" astronomers were looking for.

INTERVIEW: Where Are You Hiding Planet X, Dr. Brown?

As it turned out, many of the perturbation measurements were eventually put down to observational error, but that didn't negate the potential for more large planets beyond our observational capabilities existing beyond the Kuiper belt -- the scenario that Gomes is currently investigating.

This new search for a hypothetical world is interesting, and reminiscent of Lowell's hunt for Planet X, but just because extreme SDO orbits hint at the presence of another body doesn't mean there has to be a Planet X 2.0.

"You can go back 100 years to claims of planets in the outer solar system and (their orbital anomalies) have all eventually gone away," said Hal Levison, a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo. "That should give you pause for thought. Just because there's not a good explanation for (the orbits of the scattered disc objects) besides another planet doesn't mean there won't be a good explanation in the future."

One leading alternative theory as to how SDOs got flung around is that during the sun's formative years, it grew up in a cluster of tightly packed stars -- perhaps the gravitational instabilities caused by neighboring stars affected the objects in the outer solar system.

"Back at the time of the birth of the sun, the sun probably formed in a cluster of other stars. If true, they would have been close enough together to influence each other's outer planet systems, like where Sedna is," said Brown.

So for now, we'll just have to wait and see if more evidence presents itself -- at the moment, evidence for Planet X 2.0 seems a little too thin.

Mysterious Planet Discovered Lurking At The Edge Of Our Solar System:
Has Nemesis Been Found?

The planet, often referred to as Nemesis or Planet X has been considered a controversial topic among scientists.

This is why the latest announcement from famed astronomer Rodney Gomes, from the national Observatory of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro has caused a lot of stir among his colleagues.

Speaking at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society earlier this month, Rodney Gomes presented complex calculations and computer models, indicating the existence of this world as a genuine possibility.

If Gomes is correct, the unknown planet, beyond the orbit of Neptune is about four times the size of Earth. Its existence was proposed based on observations of other, small bodies in the area, which appear to be constantly perturbed by something.

Astronomers have suspected for some time that a massive world beyond the dwarf planet Pluto could explain the peculiar motions of objects in the Kuiper Belt.
These celestial bodies are taking abnormal courses through space, which cannot be readily explained through other phenomena or gravitational interactions.

Gomes studies are considered promising, but still inconclusive.

More research is needed before astronomers can confirm and announce the presence of an unknown, massive planet at the edge of our solar system.

Gomes' models also included the dwarf planet Sedna. Since it was first discovered, this object has exhibited anomalous trajectories beyond Neptune's orbit, which astronomers cannot explain even now.

A host of other objects, located close to Sedna, exhibit similar deviations from the courses astronomers expected them to take based on existing theories.

Gomes' research suggest that this previously hidden planet is located far beyond the orbit of Pluto.

Due to its size, it would exert a strong influence on trans-Neptunine objects, but only a minimal one on the four gas and ice giants, and a negligible one on the inner, rocky worlds.

A Neptune-sized ice giant orbiting about 225 billion kilometers (140 billion miles) away from the Sun could account for these disruptions.

Alternatively, a Mars-sized rocky world in a highly elongated orbit beyond Pluto could exert a similar influence.

The newly proposed world may have developed in the solar system along with the other planets, and then gradually move away from the Sun, or may have been captured by the Sun after being ejected from its own star system, billions of years ago.

Norwegian earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Norwegian Sea on Thursday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The temblor, which occurred at 10.47pm GMT, had a depth of 8.8km. Its epicenter was 601km northwest of Tromso, Norway and 1,472km northeast of Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, Xinhua quoted the USGS report as stating on its website. An initial report based on the preliminary data said that the quake, of 6.5 magnitude, hit the adjacent Greenland Sea further north.

Unknown to most people, and as reported by London’s Independent newspaper, the magnetic north pole is moving faster than at any time in human history, threatening everything from the safety of modern transport systems to the traditional navigation routes of migrating animals.



Scientists now say that magnetic north, which for two centuries has been in the icy wilderness of Canada, is currently relocating towards Russia at a rate of about 40 miles a year. The speed of its movement has increased by a third in the past decade, prompting speculation that the field could be about to “flip”, causing compasses to invert and point south rather than north, something that happens between three and seven times every million years.

Already the phenomenon is causing problems in the field of aviation. Tampa International airport in Florida spent a month last year renaming its three runways, which in common with those at most US airports are identified using numbers that correspond to the direction, in degrees, that they face on a compass. “Everything had to be changed; it was a huge project,” Brenda Geoghagan, a spokeswoman for the airport, said.

RAS scientists in this report further warn that this rapid shifting of the North Pole will increase the destabilization of our Earth’s weather systems which has caused historic droughts to occur world-wide, most importantly in the United States, Mexico-Central America and Brazil’s Amazon forest regions.



Confirming the conclusions reached by RAS scientists, London’s Daily Mail newspaper reported this past week that the evidence for “Planet X” – the mysterious hypothesized planet on the edge of our solar system – has taken a new turn thanks to the mathematics of the noted astronomer Rodney Gomes.



Rodney Gomes, an astronomer at the National Observatory of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, says the irregular orbits of small icy bodies beyond Neptune imply that a planet four times the size of Earth is swirling around our sun in the fringes of the solar system. Planet X – perhaps misnamed now that Pluto has been demoted to a dwarf planet – has been widely hypothesized for decades, but has never been proven.

Gomes measured the orbits of 92 Kuiper belt objects – small bodies and dwarf planets – and said that six objects appeared to be tugged off-course compared to their expected orbits. He told astronomers at the American Astronomical Society on Tuesday that the most likely reason for the irregular orbits was a “planetary-mass solar companion”- a distant body of planet size that is powerful enough to move the Kuiper belt objects.



He further suggested this mysterious planet would be four times bigger than Earth – around the size of Neptune and would be 140 billion miles from the sun, or about 1,500 times further than the Earth. Though Gomes may have, indeed, found the mysterious Planet X, he was not the first man to suggest that it was hidden behind Neptune, which is 4 times larger than planet Earth and was discovered in the 1840′s.

French mathematician Urbain Le Verrier used Newtonian mechanics to analyze perturbations in the orbit of Uranus and hypothesized that they were caused by the gravitational pull of a yet-undiscovered planet. Le Verrier predicted the position of this new planet and sent his calculations to German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle. On 23 September 1846, the night following his receipt of the letter, Galle and his student Heinrich d’Arrest discovered Neptune, exactly where Le Verrier had predicted. There remained some slight discrepancies in the gas giants’ orbits. These were taken to indicate the existence of yet another planet orbiting beyond Neptune.

Interesting to note about these “modern” discoveries of Planet X by mainstream scientists coincide exactly with the myths and legends of our Earth’s oldest people as gathered this past century by the Russian-born American independent scholar and author Immanuel Velikovsky who noted them all in, perhaps, the most controversial book of the 20^th Century titled “Worlds in Collision”.

Six Small Planets Orbiting a Sun-like Star Amaze Astronomers

A remarkable planetary system discovered by NASA's Kepler mission has six planets around a Sun-like star, including five small planets in tightly packed orbits. Astronomers at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and their coauthors analyzed the orbital dynamics of the system, determined the sizes and masses of the planets, and figured out their likely compositions -- all based on Kepler's measurements of the changing brightness of the host star (called Kepler-11) as the planets passed in front of it.

"Not only is this an amazing planetary system, it also validates a powerful new method to measure the masses of planets," said Daniel Fabrycky, a Hubble postdoctoral fellow at UC Santa Cruz, who led the orbital dynamics analysis. Fabrycky and Jack Lissauer, a scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, are the lead authors of a paper on Kepler-11 published in the February 3 issue of Nature.

The five inner planets in the Kepler-11 system range in size from 2.3 to 13.5 times the mass of the Earth. Their orbital periods are all less than 50 days, so they orbit within a region that would fit inside the orbit of Mercury in our solar system. The sixth planet is larger and farther out, with an orbital period of 118 days and an undetermined mass.

"Of the six planets, the most massive are potentially like Neptune and Uranus, but the three lowest mass planets are unlike anything we have in our solar system," said Jonathan Fortney, assistant professor of astronomy and astrophysics at UCSC, who led the work on understanding the structure and composition of the planets, along with UCSC graduate students Eric Lopez and Neil Miller.

The Kepler space telescope detects planets that "transit" or pass in front of their host star, causing periodic dips in the brightness of the star as measured by the telescope's sensitive photometer. The amount of the brightness reduction tells scientists how big the planet is in terms of its radius. The time between transits tells them its orbital period. To determine the planets' masses, Fabrycky analyzed slight variations in the orbital periods caused by gravitational interactions among the planets.

"The timing of the transits is not perfectly periodic, and that is the signature of the planets gravitationally interacting," he said. "By developing a model of the orbital dynamics, we worked out the masses of the planets and verified that the system can be stable on long time scales of millions of years."

Previously, detections of transiting planets have been followed up with observations from powerful ground-based telescopes to confirm the planet and determine its mass using Doppler spectroscopy, which measures the "wobble" in the motion of the star caused by the gravitational tug of the planet. With Kepler-11, however, the planets are too small and the star (2,000 light-years away) is too faint for Doppler spectroscopy to work. This is likely to be the case with many of the planets detected by the Kepler mission, the main goal of which is to find small, Earth-size planets in the habitable zones of their stars.

"We will need to use orbital dynamics a lot with the Kepler mission to measure the masses of planets, so we expect to be doing a lot of those analyses," Fabrycky said.

More than 100 transiting planets have been observed by Kepler and other telescopes, but the vast majority of them are Jupiter-like gas giants, and almost all of them are in single-planet systems. The Kepler-11 system is remarkable in terms of the number of planets, their small sizes, and their closely packed orbits. Before this, astronomers had determined both size and mass for only three exoplanets smaller than Neptune. Now, a single planetary system has added five more. The sixth planet in Kepler-11 is separated enough from the others that the orbital perturbation method can't be used to determine its mass, Fabrycky said.

Kepler-11 has the fullest, most compact planetary system yet discovered. All six planets orbiting Kepler-11 are larger than Earth, with the largest ones being comparable in size to Uranus and Neptune. If placed in our solar system, the outermost planet would orbit between Mercury and Venus, and the other five planets would orbit between Mercury and our sun. As is the case in our solar system, all of the Kepler-11 planets orbit in more or less the same plane. This finding reinforces the idea that planets form in flattened disks of gas and dust spinning around a star, and the disk pattern is conserved after the planets have formed, Fabrycky said. "The coplanar orbits in our solar system inspired this theory in the first place, and now we have another good example. But that and the Sun-like star are the only parts of Kepler-11 that are like the solar system," he said.

The densities of the planets (derived from mass and radius) provide clues to their compositions. All six planets have densities lower than Earth's. "It looks like the inner two could be mostly water, with possibly a thin skin of hydrogen-helium gas on top, like mini-Neptunes," Fortney said. "The ones farther out have densities less than water, which seems to indicate significant hydrogen-helium atmospheres."

That's surprising, because a small, hot planet should have a hard time holding onto a lightweight atmosphere. "These planets are pretty hot because of their close orbits, and the hotter it is the more gravity you need to keep the atmosphere," Fortney said. "My students and I are still working on this, but our thoughts are that all these planets probably started with more massive hydrogen-helium atmospheres, and we see the remnants of those atmospheres on the ones farther out. The ones closer in have probably lost most of it."

One reason a six-planet system is so exciting is that it allows scientists to make these kinds of comparisons among planets within the same system. "That's really powerful, because we can work out what's happened to this system as a whole," Fortney said. "Comparative planetary science is how we've come to understand our solar system, so this is much better than just finding more solitary hot Jupiters around other stars."

For example, the presence of small planets with hydrogen-helium atmospheres suggests that this system formed relatively quickly, he said. Studies indicate that stellar disks lose their hydrogen and helium gas within about 5 million years. "So it tells us how quickly planets can form," Fortney said.

The inner planets are so close together that it seems unlikely they formed where they are now, he added. "At least some must have formed farther out and migrated inward. If a planet is embedded in a disk of gas, the drag on it leads to the planet spiraling inward over time. So formation and migration had to happen early on."

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] A large scale hypothetical planet that's part of our solar system with an orbit beyond that of Neptune. Was first hypothesized in 1841 when astronomers noticed Uranus did not move as predicted in it's orbit. Based on these residuals, the search for Planet X began.

Please keep in mind, I'm not a graphic artist. (doh) But most importantly, the dates illustrated below are just to ROUND OFF for purpose's of simplicity. The current figure generally accepted by science is that planet x/nibiru is on a 3600 year elongated (elliptical) solar orbit.

My personal calculations put this at 4320.26 years <---!!!Wrong!!! (See Below). Since this is closest to 4000 years I thought it would be fair enough when referring to a chronological scale of human/earth history.

This means that PlanetX/Nibiru is visible every 2000 (2,160) years during its orbital pass. ( Sumerian and Mayan text both state that Nibiru is clearly visible by day as well as night )

That being said, all science arenas confirm that the below charted events took place in the past at around those periods. The debate of course, is when exactly they occurred, and what exactly caused them to occur which isn't relevant for our purpose. You'll clearly see that the timeline's show something happens on a catastrophic scale every 4000 years (or so).

The sumerians told us that Nibiru wreaks havoc with the earth's axis every second orbital pass. (Every 4000 years or so). Basically, Earth's axis precessed from a right tilt forward and probably 180 to the left in around 10 or 20 hours due to the gravational "jolt" that takes place.Hmmmmm...

The Sumerian mathmatics system might seem odd at first, but it's actually ideal for geometry, calculation with fractions, and time. The hour was divided into 60 minutes of 60 seconds each by the Mesopotamians using their sexagesimal system of counting.

Sumerians state that Geometry and Astronomy was the language bestowed upon them by the gods (flesh and blood gods) and is still used by freemason architects today gaining knowledge on their Templar crusades in the Middle East. (The Templars disbanded and later reappeared as Freemasons).

Hmmmmm... So, are the Sumerians lying and it's actually just a myth as modern religion would have you think? Only problem is, they have this documented 4000 years before Chirstians even exsisted. Anyway, its clear I back up this claim. Me and that pesky science fella.

Various studies of Sumerian mathematics point out that the numerals are intimately connected to the precessional cycle. The unusual alternating structure of the Sumerian sexagesimal system throws special emphasis on the number 12,960,000, which represents exactly 500 great precessional cycles of 25,920 years.

The lack of any connotations, other than astronomical, for the multiples of 25,920 and 2,160 can only suggest a deliberate design for astronomical purposes, yes? I think we can all agree on that.

Therefore, my suspicions strongly indicate that the revolutionary orbit of this 12th planet Nibiru could not consist of 3,600 years, but of 4,320 years. Assuming that's correct, then what would the consequences be?

If a whole new calculation is performed from the time of the great flood, which according to Alford occurred in 10,983 BCish, with the new orbital pass every 2,160 years then we get a whole new series of data, namely:

Alford also describes the arguments between the two gods known as Thoth and his brother Marduk. These two conflicted over the fact as to when the precession of the Earth exactly started. Thoth was able to convince Marduk that it occurred one and a half degrees later than what Marduk had calculated. A degree and a half of the precession cycle is 108 years (a very sacred number in itself!). If we add this number to 1977 then we come up with the year 2085. Hmmm, No sweat, old coot here by then!

Still conflicted (nag nag), and after a couple solid sleepless nite weeks of continued research, I came across yet another precession article promoting facts that the current data on the precessional cycle does not consist of 25,920 years as the Sumerians had recorded. (doh)!

In ancient times the precessional length was 25,920 years, but now, due to the increased speed of precession, it is now closer to 25,776 years.

The number 2,160 is the twelfth fraction of a precessional cycle that takes 25,920 years.

If we divide 25,776 by twelve we get 2,148 years.

We now conclude that the bi-orbital timeline of P-X is 2,148 years, not 3,600 or 2,160 years.

If we proceed to calculate in periods of 2,148 years starting at 10,983 BC,
then add another degree and a half of 25,776 to that:

{ A degree and a half of 25,920 is 108 years},

-gulp- we then come up with a result of... 2012 AD! ... Yikes!

Hmmm.... The Mayan's, Egyptians, Zulu, Hindu, Incas, Aztecs, Dogon (Africa), Cherokee, Pueblo, Tibetan's bla bla bla.. all have the same calander target year! We can safely take "coincidence" off the table.

I challange you to calculate the odds of 2012 being a target year for all these cultures as coincidental. It's a number you couldn't even define. But if you're mathmatical minded, have a go!

So, this is also the end of the Mayan calendar, the end of the month Pisces (2148 years), and the end of the cycle known as the "Platonic Year or Great Year" which we now know lasts 25,776 years.

Keep in mind that the Maya and Sumerians we're the two "Dawn of Civilizations", that spawned all other cultures thereafter. And yep, they of course lived on different continents and had No Idea each other existed.

Although Nibiru now passes every 2,148 years it only orbits close enough to cause a pole shift every other time. Unfortunalty the numbers indicate last time it passed beyond Jupiter or Saturn resulting only in magnetic fluctuations and severe weather patterns. So this next pass should be between Mars and Jupiter. That can't be good folks. And the fact that both Maya and Sumer cultures (and about ten others), claim that their Gods told them this exact same timeline?

The last 'Major' passage, which caused noticeable catastrophe, was during the Age of Taurus, 4,286 - 2,143 bce - the two before that would have been in the Ages of Leo (10,500 BC.) and Scorpio (14,500 BC.) - (see chart above for "years ago" timeline ).

The Gnostic authors of the Bible were also aware of these hallmark conjunctions, and wrote them into the New Testament. The four beasts of the Apocalypse, the Lion, Ox, Man and Eagle, correspond to the four zodiac signs Leo, Taurus, Aquarius and Scorpio, in which the Grand Cross conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn takes place in 6,444 year intervals.

Even if the authors of the Bible didn't know what exactly would happen at this time (which they probably did) they appear to have used this event as a point for triangulating many prophetic statements. The sign of Taurus, named by the Sumerians 'GU.ANNA', meaning the "Heavenly Bull", also represented the Sumerian God Ishkur, a.k.a Teshub the storm God!

So my conclusion is that we experience catastrophe approximately every 4200 years (2 x 2,148 = 4200) and 3 times within a precessional time scale of 25,776 years. Mayan Elder, Hunbatz Men, also revealed that the Mayans have known about Tzoltze ek' (Nibiru) for many years. They say "The planet has a period of 6,500 years, not 3,600, and visits us 4 times every 26,000 year precessional cycle" (Platonic Year or Great Year, that ends on 21st December 2012). If we go back 6,444 years (3 x 2,148) from 2012 AD, then it brings us to 4,432 BC, when the Antarctic ice cap formed.

There is much controversy over the dating of the Biblical Flood, but if we look at archaeological data for 10,983 BC and 4,432 BC, we see evidence of major flooding and catastrophic climate change. There is also evidence of a flood around 2,200 BC, leading bible scholars to conclude this was the Biblical Flood. But I suggest this flood was much more localized than the great flood, due to the passage of Nibiru at a reasonably safe distance.

The first LUCIFER observations of star-forming regions are giving scientists an idea of the new instrument´s enormous potential. This image depicts a stellar nursery in the Milky Way about 8,000 light-years from Earth. Such clouds are typically opaque to visible light. The LBT partners in the U.S., Germany, and Italy announced April 21 that the first of two new innovative near-infrared cameras/spectrographs for the LBT is now available to astronomers for scientific observations at the telescope on Mount Graham in southeastern Arizona.

After more than a decade of design, manufacturing, and testing, the new instrument, dubbed LUCIFER 1, provides a powerful tool to gain spectacular insights into the universe — from the Milky Way to extremely distant galaxies. An identical twin instrument will be delivered to the telescope in early 2011.

"With the large light-gathering power of the LBT, astronomers are now able to collect the spectral fingerprints of the faintest and most distant objects in the universe," said LBT director Richard Green, a professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona´s Steward Observatory.

LUCIFER 1 and its twin are mounted at the focus points of the LBT´s two giant 27.6-foot-diameter (8.4 meters) telescope mirrors. Each instrument is cooled to -351° Fahrenheit (-213° Celsius) in order to observe in the near-infrared wavelength range. Near-infrared observations are essential for understanding the formation of stars and planets in our galaxy as well as revealing the secrets of the most distant and young galaxies.

LUCIFER´s innovative design allows astronomers to observe star-forming regions in unprecedented detail, which are commonly hidden by dust clouds.

The instrument is remarkably flexible, combining a large field of view with a high resolution. It provides three exchangeable cameras for imaging and spectroscopy in different resolutions, according to observational requirements.
